In today's news is a story that says that ten of the newly elected GOP Senators, in a letter to Harry Reid, are asking for a delay in the consideration of the "New Start Treaty" with Russia that our president has signed-on to.
This is what they wrote:
“Out of respect for our states’ voters, we believe it would be improper for the Senate to consider the New START Treaty or any other treaty in a lame duck session prior to January 3, 2011.”
The President is trying again to push this through as quick as he can, without the consent of the American people. If you rush things through, the people do not have time to hear about what they are doing until it is already done and too late to change it. This is the method that they use to destroy our way of life, just like they did with ObamaCare.
Just last evening I saw a screening of a film by Heritage Foundation about missile defense. There was also a discussion about this treaty. It would lock us into the same old restraining situation we were in with the Soviet Union, with a similar treaty, before it fell. We were locked into it for years, even after the Soviet Union fell. President Reagan got us out of it. This "New Start Treaty" would again put restraints on our ability to build out a defense system.
They are trying to prevent us from being able to set up a system of missiles that would intercept any missiles fired at us from our enemies and destroy them in space instead of having massive destruction of our country.
This is a continuation of the SDI type system that President Reagan started, with great opposition from the Democrats. These intercept missiles would not carry warheads, but would crash into the on-coming missile with great precision and destroy them. This has already been tested with great success.
We need to build this system. It will make our country much stronger against those who would attack us and keep the people safer in this nation and others as well. The cost of such a system would be less than the cost of recovering from any one single successful nuclear strike on this country. Such a system could save possibly millions of lives.
When we are strong, others know they can't take us out. There are those who would like to see America reduced to a third world country and are working to that end. Let's keep our country strong against aggression.
